A lecturer at Panthéon-Assas University, Matthieu has dedicated himself to corporate and commercial law: choice of legal structure, the concept and role of corporate interest, the interplay between corporate and general law regarding the transfer of shares, and the reform of sole proprietorships—these are just some of the topics he has explored and analyzed in detail in numerous works and articles.

Matthieu has also developed particular expertise in the business and competition law of New Caledonia, where he served as a seconded official for four years.
